PT. SHRI KRISHAN SHARMA
Pandit Shri Krishan Sharma was a foremost Slide Guitarist and a Vichitra Veena Maestro. He learnt music from his father, Pt. Gopal Krishan. He has given numerous concerts both India and Abroad.
He has featured in programs broadcasted by All India Radio and Doordarshan for over Four Decades. He was a Top Rank artist of All India Radio. He introduced techniques in his repertoire by redirecting a basically Western instrument to perform Indian Classical Music.
Keeping in mind the style of veena he has been able to introduce certain new techniques in his repertoire by taming a basically western music instrument to Indian Classical Music.
Prominent in his recital was Gayaki ang with imaginative Alaap, Jod, Jhala, Gatkari and Laykari. Keeping the traditional values intact Pt. Shri Krishan Sharma performed Ragas in its pristine form without compromising on the serenity of the ragas.
He has given numerous successful public concerts at Delhi, Calcutta, Gwalior, Chennai, Jaipur, Bhopal, Maihar, Banaras, Indore, Pune, Agra, Goa, Shimla to name a few.
He also has the distinction of performing in America, Mauritius, Reunion Islands and Netherlands.
